Democrats criticize Joe Biden for quiet quitting as he gradually steps back from public view amid global issues

 

Party members are alleging that 82-year-old President Joe Biden is 'quiet quitting'—a concept popular among Gen-Z that signifies slowly withdrawing from responsibilities without formally resigning.

 

With just over a month left in his term, Biden has reduced his public engagements significantly.

 

He has also limited his interactions with the media, refraining from condemning his successor, President-elect Donald Trump, whom he previously branded as a 'threat to democracy' during the campaign.

 

'It’s peculiar that he’s spoken for so long about Trump being an existential danger to democracy,' remarked Tommy Vietor, a host of Pod Save America, who referred to the 'quiet quitting' notion during Tuesday’s episode.

 

'Yeah, that does seem to be what he’s doing,' concurred Vietor, a former aide to Obama.

 

The Pod Save America hosts were reflecting on a recent Politico article that analyzed Biden's retreat from the public sphere.

 

'A complete absence of leadership is coming from the White House,' complained a Democrat close to senior lawmakers to the publication. 'There’s an entire void.'

 

Another source noted, 'In my discussions, the president isn't even mentioned. It feels like Trump is already in charge.'

 

While Trump has been mostly secluded at Mar-a-Lago during the transition, he engaged with the press for over an hour on Monday from the lavish living room of his Florida estate.

 

Though he hasn’t made Cabinet nominees parade through Trump Tower or stage photo ops at his Bedminster, New Jersey resort like he did eight years ago, he has participated in high-profile events, including Saturday's Army-Navy game and a recent visit to Paris to see the renovated Notre Dame cathedral and engage with world leaders.
